·  IR crystal materials (Ge, ZnSe, Si) — negative rake tools recommended to reduce adhesion and surface damage.

·  Negative rake tools (‑x°) for brittle optical crystals to minimize chatter and edge adhesion.

Machine compatibility & process notes

Optimized for ultra-precision single-point diamond lathes (3–5 axis SPDT machines); stable, high-stiffness machines achieve best surface form and waviness control.

For certain production routes (roller moulds or roll-to-roll embossing), tool path and nose radius are adjusted to match the mould curvature and replication process.
